What is Birth Works?
Birth Works International, Inc. believes that every woman is born with the knowledge of how to give birth and embodies a philosophy that develops a woman’s self-confidence, trust and faith in her innate abilities. Birth Works childbirth preparation classes are for all parents – new and experienced. Classes include: exploration of the mind/body connection in childbirth; learning how to trust our bodies and the energy of the birth process; physical and emotional aspects of pregnancy, labor and birth; the impact of physical and psychological interventions in birth; the importance of nutrition and exercise to a healthy pregnancy and birth; relaxation and multi-sensory visualization techniques; assessing risks, benefits and alternatives to medical procedures; choosing a birth team and writing a preference plan; healing past emotional pain in preparation for birth; preparing for postpartum, breastfeeding and early parenting; and developing good decision-making skills. Classes are innovative and experiential in design, which helps to instill confidence and provide support while empowering parents to take more responsibility for their births. What is HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing—The Mongan Method is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing and stress-free method of birthing. HypnoBirthing teaches women and their birthing companions the art and joy of creating a comfortable birthing experience by learning how to call upon their bodies’ own natural relaxants (endorphins) and thus lessen, or even eliminate, discomfort and the desire for medication. When women are properly prepared for childbirth and their minds and bodies are in harmony, nature is free to function optimally.
HypnoBirthing teaches women to release all prior programming about birth, to trust their bodies and learn how to work with them and to free themselves of harmful emotions that may lead to pain-causing fear and unyielding muscles – the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome.
HypnoBirthing teaches the art of using our own natural birthing instincts. With HypnoBirthing, women are not in a trance or a sleep state, but are aware and fully in control, while profoundly relaxed. For more information about HypnoBirthing, visit www.HypnoBirthing.com.
